Tasrail's TR Class

  • $30.00

During December 2011, Progress Rail in the United States was given the contract to build 17 brand new locomotives for Tasmania's freight operator Tasrail, along with 191 new wagons which were to be built in China.

The PR22L or TR class became the first new locomotives to be built for Tasmania's rail system since 1976. 2013 saw the first 2 locos arrive from the United States and they would undergo extensive testing before entering service. Since 2014, all 17 of the TR class are now a regular site on the mainline, and this DVD looks at the locos in detail on coal, paper and intermodal freights across the state, including the load trials on the South Line in the early part of 2014. A "must have" DVD for the rail enthusiast!

Highlights include:

  • Official launch
  • First run on the South Line
  • Load trials to the Rhyndaston tunnel
  • Fingal Line
  • Western and South lines
  • Along the north west coast
  • Last freight train out of Hobart
