Tasmanian Railways - The Changing Rail Scene

  • $30.00

Since the commissioning of Tasrail's new TR class locomotives in 2014, many of the older locomotives were withdrawn from service including all examples of the English Electric family of motive power.

In this production we take a look at the Z, ZR, ZP, DQ, D, MKA and the 2050 class through what is now historical video of most of these loco types working around Tasmania for the states rail freight operator Tasrail.

Filmed in full High Definition, most rail lines are covered including the Fingal, South, Western and Melba Lines.

We also take a look at the last years of steam hauled freights through rare colour photos of H2 hauling the cement train between Devonport and Railton, and MA4 working a goods train between Herrick and Launceston on the steeply graded North East Line at the beginning of the 1970's.

We end this production with a look at the new TR class which replaced many of the older loco types on paper, intermodal, cement and coal traffic.

A "must have" DVD for the rail enthusiast!

Filmed, narrated, edited and produced by Rowan Kinnane.
