Riding with Ja1271

Steam Incorporated’s mighty Ja1271 coal fired steam loco puts on a memorable display in this production as we cover two excursions from late 2010 and early 2011.

Part 1 covers the Christmas Wine and Dine Special from Paekakariki to Levin and Palmerston North, where we witness final preparations of the locomotive just prior to departure, with additional footage from trackside and on board as we mix it up with the passengers.

Part 2 covers the Eketahuna Express and we catch up with this train at Otaki, following it all the way to Palmerston North, through the Gorge to Woodville and down to Masterton. We’ll catch up with the hard working volunteers from Steam Incorporated at Masterton as they turn, fuel and water the locomotive prior to its run back home to Paekakariki, which we’ll film as far as Palmerston North.
