East of Rogers Pass, the Canadian Pacific Railway has a fairly easy grade following the banks of the Bow River all the way to Calgary.

Our journey commences at the town of Lake Louise where we set up beside the old railway station, which is now a restaurant. Just 1 km away on the Bow Valley Parkway is the infamous Morants Curve - named after CP special photographer Nicholas Morant who snapped many a photo of the CP at this location.

A brief visit to the tourist trap of Banff is followed by a good look at some switching operations at the small yard of Exshaw. Bright skies and the Rocky Mountains set an idyllic scene.

We then leave the Rocky Mountains in our wake and head south to Lethbridge - site of the High Level Bridge that spans the Old Man River. This 1624 metre long structure dwarfs the trains that use it.

West of Lethbridge is the CP Kipp Yard which is visited often by the Union Pacific. Here we witness some more switching, followed by catching a train departing at either end, rounding off with a shot from Fort MacLeod.

Discreet subtitles provide location information.
