Canadian Thunder 8 - Jasper & Yellowhead Pass

Jasper, Alberta, is widely regarded as the tourist Mecca of the Canadian Rockies. During the winter months this small town is teaming with visitors eager to enjoy the delights that the snow has brought. Late spring is an ideal time to visit if minus 15 degree temperatures aren't your thing. The sun is out, the air is warm and the mountain peaks are capped with a dusting of snow - setting the scene for some remarkable railroad photography.

The Canadian National Railway has a small yard located at Jasper which varies daily from empty to bursting. With Jasper being a crew change point, accomodation is provided for the many crews that pass through. VIA Rail's Skeena and Rocky Mountaineer also terminate here and are parked up overnight.

Proceding west, we enter Yellowhead Pass where we strike a busy morning with shots from Decoigne, Lucerne, Moose Lake and Red Pass.
