Tasmanian Railways - Volume 1

  • $30.00

Throughout the Tasmanian Railway series, we look at a variety of rail operations in Tasmania from hard working diesel action, to a variety of steam motive power.

In Volume 1, we take a look at the new colour scheme of Tasrail which appeared in mid 2010, we follow the first loco, DQ 2001 in the new livery at a variety locations on the Southern line over many days of filming. The loco is seen leading and helping other engines to conquer steep gradients with lots of sound and vision.

DQ 2012 becomes the second loco to be painted and we follow the engine in early morning light on trains 35 and 36 making for some good video. ZR 2100 is the last loco featured and we see the engine leading trains 35 and 32, watch the loco leading the paper train through the Rhyndaston tunnel at night, creating a unique scene.

Steam locomotive M4 is seen operating at the Don River Railway and we join the action from lineside and the loco cab.

One of the last coal trains operates to Burnie with 3 English Electric locomotives and regular services with lots of great sound and vision rounds off the first volume of this series.
