Tasmania's Rail Freight Network - Volume 2

  • $29.95

Join Rail Media Productions as we explore Tasmania's rail freight network in recent times with a variety of train types including: coal, paper, ballast, logs and intermodal.

In volume 2, we travel to the South Line to view quad TR class as they pull a heavy train to the Rhyndaston tunnel, then we move to the winter of 2017 and view some of the work that is all part of the upgrading programme to Tasrail. See the ventilation shafts at the Rhyndaston tunnel being replaced after decades of use.

Ballast trains are also a vital part of the track work, and we see one in action on the Fingal Line with DQ's 2006 and 2011.

On the Western Line, a 5 loco lash up is followed from the Don Hill to the Blythe River.

If that wasn't enough, we also show another four unit lash up on the paper train and also one on the Melba Line as far as Moory Junction on a wet spring morning.

DQ 2010 also makes a rare appearance on the cement train as it leaves Devonport in the morning.

A number of triple headers are seen at various parts of the Western and South Lines with TR's and a DQ coupled on.

We also show DQ 2009 shunting the yard at Devonport and the rare appearance of it running long hood first with containers.

DV1is briefly featured on the cement train as it enters its final days of service before replacement.

Scenic locations such as Rhyndaston, Coal Mine Bend, North West Coast, Fingal Line and much more are shown throughout this second volume.

This is a DVD which is not to be missed!

Filmed, narrated, edited and produced by Rowan Kinnane.
