Tasmanian Railways - Volume 4

  • $30.00

In Volume 4 of this continuing series we look mainly at the DQ's on the Tasrail network with extensive coverage of them at work on the Fingal Line in eastern Tasmania where a shortage of TR class meant that the older locos needed to step in to keep the traffic moving to both Boyer and Railton.

The newly restored Fingal Railway station is also covered around the DQ action which provided great sound climbing the steep grades in the valley.

Steam loco M4 retired from service for its 2 yearly boiler inspection, and we also chase 2002 on the Derwent Valley line, and assisting a TR on train 34 which made for lovely sound and vision.

DQ 2001 stood in on the cement train and worked continuously between Devonport and Railton for a few days.

If that wasn't enough, we closely follow triple DQ's for 2 days in a row on the Melba Line between Burnie and Goodwood with spectacular sound and vision coming from all grey and yellow liveried locomotives. On the lead up to Christmas 2016 a couple of unusual lash ups occurred on the South Line to and from the Brighton Transport Hub.

The first was a combined ballast and 35 train which had 6 locos up front.

We chase this extremely rare to a variety of locations as it headed south. The second event which was not to be missed was a lash up of 5 locos at the head of train 36.

This was another combined load, and we follow the train to a variety of locations as far as the Rhyndaston tunnel.

Minimal narration throughout the programme allows the locos to do most of the talking and give you the feeling of actually being their!

Don't miss Volume 4 of this continuing series!
