Griffith Indiana BLU-RAY

Griffith, Indiana is a town 6 miles east of the Illinois state line and is where the Canadian National’s South Bend, Matteson, and Elsdon Subdivisions all come together. Griffith used to be one of the largest interlockings in the world. At one time 5 railroads crossed through town with the EJE having 2 lines. CN acquired the EJE in January of 2009, which ended the two railroads crossing and becoming one. The Elsdon Sub is controlled by the CSX from Chicago to Munster even though it is still owned by CN. Up until 2018, CSX was running their daily Y123 from CSX Barr Yard to Kirk Yard via Griffith until a new connection was completed from the CSX to the CN up near Kirk Yard. An average of 45 trains run daily through Griffith keeping this area busy with great railroad action!During our time of production from 2014 to 2019, the CN ran some of their rare power on local jobs in the area as Kirk Yard is good place for older units on the railroad.Anything from EJE, CN, IC, GT, and even B..

Big Boy has been on display in Pomona, California since 1961, but after an extensive rebuild years in the making, the Big Boy took off from Cheyenne, Wyoming in May 2019, to Utah to take part in the celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the Golden Spike. As part of this historic event, Union Pacific took the Big Boy on a tour in July and August of 2019 in what was called “The Great Race Across the Midwest.” C. East to Laramie BLU-RAY

For over 150 years Union Pacific’s transcontinental main line has played a key roll in the growth and prosperity of the nation. Since the driving of the golden spike at Promontory, Utah, the prairies of southern Wyoming have been alive with the humming of steel wheels. 7idea Productions takes you on a tour of Union Pacific’s Rawlins and Laramie Subdivisions between Green River and Laramie. This rarely visited portion of the Overland Route sees over fifty trains per day.  The double track main line follows the route of the Overland Stage crossing the Continental Divide three times through Wyoming’s Great Divide Basin. We will begin at historic Green River and head east for 250 miles. Watch coal being delivered to the Jim Bridger Power Plant and its origin at the Black Butte Mine. In May of 2019, Union Pacific made history. Big Boy 4014, the largest steam locomotive on earth took to the main line under its own power for the first time in nearly 60 years! The restoration was just in time for the 150th anniversary of the driving of the Golden Spike at Promontory, Utah, commemorating the completion of the first transcontinental railroad in 1869. Paired with UP 844, the only steam locomotive to never be taken out of active service on a major railroad, the 4014 made its first excursion run between Cheyenne, Wyoming and Ogden, Utah in what was billed as “The Great Race to Ogden.” 7idea Productions takes you trackside for this historic event from Cheyenne to Ogden and return. Catch the 4014 climbing Sherman Hill, gliding across the Wyoming plains, and tackling the Wasatch grade. In Ogden, Utah, Union Pacific’s Spike 150 Celebration had the feeling of a rock concert as thousands of people came out to see the Big Boy for the first time. We’ll take you..

EMDs in Minnesota's Iron Ore Country
CVEIRDVD

EMDs in Minnesota's Iron Ore Country

In this show, we will cover CN's former DM&IR ore lines in northeastern Minnesota, along with a sampling of Northshore Mining and BNSF operations in the area. What draws fans to Minnesota's north woods and the shores of Lake Superior isn't just the beautiful country or the interesting iron ore operations, it's the motive power used to pull trains through this unique region. EMD is king here, and we document these fine machines as they thunder across CN's Missabe, Minntac, Iron Range, and Two Harbors Subdivisions. We also follow Northshore Mining's mainline between Silver Bay and Babbitt, Minnesota, exploring some remote areas of Minnesota's Arrowhead. You'll see NSM's older SD40-3s, as well as leased SD90MACs hauling raw taconite ore and tailings trains across the railroad. BNSF's Kelly Lake and Grand Rapids locals are also briefly covered, powered by pairs of SD40-2s With GE power slowly being equipped with straight air for ore service..
