Big Boy has been on display in Pomona, California since 1961, but after an extensive rebuild years in the making, the Big Boy took off from Cheyenne, Wyoming in May 2019, to Utah to take part in the celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the Golden Spike. As part of this historic event, Union Pacific took the Big Boy on a tour in July and August of 2019 in what was called “The Great Race Across the Midwest.” C. Vision Productions covers a part of this tour from Mason City, Iowa, up to the Twin Cities and Twin Ports in Minnesota, then through Wisconsin, down to Chicago and across Illinois into Iowa. 16 videographers were on hand to document this giant locomotive from both the ground and the air! Return of the Big Boy

In May of 2019, Union Pacific made history. Big Boy 4014, the largest steam locomotive on earth took to the main line under its own power for the first time in nearly 60 years! The restoration was just in time for the 150th anniversary of the driving of the Golden Spike at Promontory, Utah, commemorating the completion of the first transcontinental railroad in 1869. Paired with UP 844, the only steam locomotive to never be taken out of active service on a major railroad, the 4014 made its first excursion run between Cheyenne, Wyoming and Ogden, Utah in what was billed as “The Great Race to Ogden.” 7idea Productions takes you trackside for this historic event from Cheyenne to Ogden and return. Catch the 4014 climbing Sherman Hill, gliding across the Wyoming plains, and tackling the Wasatch grade. In Ogden, Utah, Union Pacific’s Spike 150 Celebration had the feeling of a rock concert as thousands of people came out to see the Big Boy for the first time...

Railway Renaissance - Putting Back the Track

A DVD that will take you back to a bygone era when the pace of life was genteel. Using photographs and archive film coupled with contemporary footage, the story of the quaint Lynton & Barnstaple narrow gauge line and its gradual restoration is told as never before. At the other end of railway preservation is the Bluebell line. The story of this early standard gauge preservation and their recent reopening against the odds to East Grinstead is no less incredible. Written and narrated by BBC producer and lifelong enthusiast Andrew Johnston and filmed by fellow enthusiast and professional Ian Stuart Lynn, this is a film of first class quality not to be missed. Once almost every town in Britain had its railway station. Even remote villages had their wayside halts and just about everything was transported by rail. Then came the age of motor traffic and by the 1930s, the smaller lines were beginning to close. After World War Two, the railways went into a steep decline and in t..
