The Great 100 Working
TPSETG1W

The Great 100 Working

In April 1999, South Africa played host to The Great 100 Working. This was a three-day celebration of our heritage, which culminated The Great One Hundred Working World Record Attempt. South Africa's vintage tractors made history as one hundred and six of them all ploughed in one field at the same time, qualifying for entry into the Guinness Book of Records. This documentary gives you a close-up view of the event, and of the machines that made history.  If you weren't there when the first world record was set, then this video is the next best thing! Also available... The Great 400 Working Volume 1 and Volume 2 ..

Rail Heritage - Monto

In 2008 the Australian Railway Historical Society - Queensland Division operated a long distance SIX-DAY steam tour from Brisbane to Monto traveling the full length of the 'Monto Loop'. Monto is unusual in that rail access is by two separate railway lines, one to the north near Gladstone and south from Mungar. The tour ran via the North Coast Line to Gladstone before heading for Monto. We follow the train on its journey up the North Coast Line as far as Gympie, where the train spends the evening at Old Gympie Station home to the Mary Valley Heritage Railway. We pick up the train again at Many Peaks and follow it the rest of the way around the loop and back to Brisbane. As with all Rail Heritage DVDs there is no narration only natural train sounds. Just Pilbara Trains 2001

Just Pilbara Trains 2001

Take a journey to the Pilbara in the northwest of Australia, a vast landscape stretching to a seemingly endless horizon. Untouched through its isolation this rugged country is deserted and extremely difficult to access. The only reminders of civilisation are the well travelled rails of the Pilbara region¹s heavy haul railways. The roar from 6000HP locomotives as they climb 1 in 50 grades hauling a 30,000 tonne, 200-plus car train is simply amazing. These locomotives can only be described as massive, standing over 16 feet high and weighing over 190 tonnes they are the most powerful locomotives in Australia today. In September 2001, Greg Travers spent 14 days following these immense trains through the Pilbara region. You will see two, three and four locomotives up front plus trains with up to three mid-train helpers. Robe River, BHP Iron Ore and Hamersley Iron railways are featured with trackside and pacing footage. Settle back and watch some of the worlds most efficient heavy..

See and hear the locomotives hard at work on this scenic branch line in the far north of New South Wales on the Murwillumbah Line. We view trains operated by the NRR in conjunction with FreightCorp, powered by GM 421 and 49 class locomotives during 1998. See NRR 422 class with an EL class General Electric on the now defunct Rozelle branch in Sydney. View the “Ritz Rail” tourist train just prior to its shutdown in 2002. Analogue video flashback to 1987 showing Alco 442 class on the State Rail “Gold Coast Motorail Express”.  Subtitles brief the viewer along with a narration, added over the top of less sensitive train sounds.  The feature of two audio sound tracks means you can choose to listen to the natural train sound only, without the narration. We are sure that you will enjoy “Just Northern Rivers Railroad & The Murwillumbah Line” by Greg Travers, the seventh production in the “Just Trains” series from Train ..

Locomotives In Transition - A Trackside Journey 06

For many years the Victorian Rail Network has played host to its own breed of locally built and operated Steam and Diesel locomotives. However, by the late 70's and early 80's many previously unimaginable changes were emerging such as the commencement of through running loco's into foreign states, the re-building and' re-classing of many alder locomotives and even larger freight carriers hiring smaller preserved loco's for assistance during their busy periods. Furthermore, privatisation of rail transport companies derived new locomotive liveries and a transitional, yet colourful fleet of power would evolve. Locomotives in Transition takes you on a memorable journey through many parts of Victoria complimented with some of the finest representatives of locomotive classes in Australia including the classic VR B, S and GM class, to name a few. A NSW Train On Line - A Trackside Journey 09

For many years the NSW rail network has been complimented by the diverse array of locomotive classes assigned to work its trains. In recent years particularly, the Southern and Western Regions have accommodated the presence of ARG’s CL and L class locomotives, whilst Lachlan Valley Rail (Freight Division) have relied on the use of GM and 44 class locomotives to fulfil their grain contracts. A NSW Train On Line winds the clock back to the summer of 1992 / 93 when the 44 class made a surprise return to the Southern Region. This rail series takes an inside look at many signal boxes in action and the time honoured tradition of signalmen ‘setting the road’ for the next train. We also document the Double Line Block Telegraph system between Wallendbeen and Harden. A NSW Train On Line represents a portfolio of memorable images and illustrates a timely reminder that another rail chapter will soon be turned for the last time as progress continues to make its presence felt..
