non-stop Class 47 action throughout the UK over the years 1989 to 1999. Marvel
at the locations, the liveries and sounds of these fine locomotives. It is truly
amazing to see the variety of duties that these workhorses undertake, yet with
the influx of foreign built locomotives their reign is nearing an end. Full

GVF 009D ECLIPSE OF THE CLASS
37s
Released in November 1999, this is the third in a series of
programs dedicated to the Class 37s which won accolades from the railway press
before going out to general release. To add to the magnificent sound effects
which are a feature of this series of programs “Eclipse” includes the sight &
sound of no less than 100 different locomotives in action in two different
countries – that’s right – this video is the first to include action from
Southern France where the Class 37s are assisting with construction duties
connected with the new high-speed TGV link. Added to this, the class is seen
hard at work in the UK from Penzance to Inverness and from Lowestoft to
Aberystwyth and most places in between. A comparison of modern & historical
liveries are seen to good effect as we see many members of the class which have
now succumbed to withdrawal. Full train details appear as Captions. Narration
has been deliberately omitted so as not to compromise the distinctive sound of
the locomotives at work. [ NOTE: See GVF 004 / 007 / 011 / 022 / 023, for

GVF 010D NATIONAL GRIDS

classic designs still at work in Britain. As the number of operational
locomotives falls it is now a fitting time to view some of them busy at work
over past years. This video combines both day-to-day operations with rare and in
some cases unique scenes bringing to life over half the class, many no longer in
service.

GVF 011D REFLECTIONS OF THE
CLASS 37s
Released in August 2000, this is the fourth and possibly the
most remarkable in the series of Class 37 videos. Material spans the years 1987
to 2000 and features many classic liveries including BR blue, large logo blue,
red stripe railfreight as well as more up to date paint schemes. Following on
from where “Eclispse of the Class 37s” left off, we see astonishing action from
Southern France where the Class 37s are assisting with construction duties
connected with the new high-speed TGV link. This time we see them in action on
the Southern steeply graded section where multiple type 3s tackle the infamous 1
in 30 gradient at Donzere. Definitely a head banging session!! In the UK we see
views from Cornwall to Caithness – literally, and view some of the most
startling scenery in between. Railtours, rare passenger turns, heavy freights,
they are all here. Full train details appear as Captions. Narration has been
deliberately omitted so as not to compromise the distinctive sound of the
locomotives at work.

GVF 013D DIESEL DECADE – THE
1990’s
The 1990s turned out to be one of the most significant
periods in the whole history of Britain's railways encompassing the transition
from British Rail to the privatised railway. As British Rail disappeared so came
the corporate swell of the privatised railway with the ubiquitous BR blue livery
replaced by a variety of different house colours. It also saw many home-built
products replaced by traction constructed overseas, particularly General Motors
types. This video illustrates examples of the mainline diesel classes operating
throughout the British mainland during the years 1990-1999. Narration has been
deliberately omitted so as not to compromise the distinctive sound of the
locomotives at work. Full colour and Captions including Locomotives / Location /
Train Details. Featured classes are: 20, 26, 31, 33, 37, 46, 47, 50, 55, 56, 57,
58, 59, 60, 66 & HST.

GVF 014D GLORY OF THE CLASS
37s
This is the fifth in a series of videos recording the life
and times of the English Electric type 3 diesel locomotives, or Class 37s as
they are now known. This extended program includes rare archive cine footage
dating as far back as 1968, yet brings us right up to the year 2001. For many
years the class 37s have been associated with services along the busy North
Wales Coast trunk route to Holyhead. With passenger duties due to cease at the
end of 2000 we pay tribute to this service with a special section depicting the
final hours. Unique views are seen including the final official departure from
Holyhead. Full train details appear as Captions. Narration has been deliberately
omitted so as not to compromise the distinctive sound of the locomotives at
work.

'Western Renaissance' features two distinct eras of the
Class. Most of the program features recently unearthed and previously
unpublished cine film of the 'Westerns' in the period 1973-1977. This footage
was filmed primarily by two enthusiasts chasing the class in the West Country
but other locations such as Bristol, Swindon, Reading & Paddington appear
together with views of the specials operated in their final months. Included is
unique footage taken from right behind the locomotive on travels throughout the
West Country. Ride behind 'Western Glory' over Brunels' famous bridge into
Cornwall; with 'Trooper' on the Newquay branch; with 'Duke' and 'Sentinel' over
the Devon banks. This is thrilling stuff with special attention given to the
soundtrack, [which is almost entirely original], to ensure maximum enjoyment.
The final part of the program features the rebirth of the Class on the mainline
starting with the test run of Western Champion at the end of January 2002 and
finishing with epic views of the locomotive on it's first proper train on 23
