In the first three decades of dieselisation on the VR , every loco hauled train was headed by diesels in the familiar blue and gold livery. Since an `open access’ policy has been introduced, locomotives from all main land states appear in Victoria, and in many cases coupled or `lashed up’ to locomotives , that had previously only operated within their home state. Both standard gauge and broad gauge lines are represented in this wide screen presentation. Loads of diesel action for the viewer that just can't get enough DIESEL! Other highlights of the DVD are: · The inaugural run of The Great South Pacific Express to Canberra in January 2001, featuring 8124 in NR livery and 7319 · ATN L class locos working with Ts, 48s and 422s hauling heavy grain trains including a spectacular six engine lash-up tackling Como bank in April 2002. Woodford to Leytonstone via Hainault & This all new Driver's eye view was filmed in the summer of 2011. Much requested by our customers, we have taken the opportunity of filming the Woodford branch through the Roding Valley to Hainault and on to Leytonstone on board a 1992 stock train. We then switch our attention to the main Central Line that runs through the very heart of London. Epping, by contrast, can best be described as a rural town out in the Essex countryside. We join another 1992 stock train for the longest journey possible on one tube train, from there to West Ruislip in Middlesex. Our journey takes us through the open fields surrounding Theydon Bois before entering true suburbia. At Leyton we enter the first tunnel section before re-emerging at Stratford - now firmly on the world map as the site of the 2012 Olympic games. Now we stay in tunnel for the main route through Liverpool Street, the City of London, the West End and out to Shepherd's Bush in West London. Our train exits the tunnel section at White City on the wrong side due to an historical anomaly. Crossing back to left hand running we traverse North Acton Junction and head overland through Hanger Lane and Greenford (sporting semaphore signals) to the terminus at West Ruislip. 4 cameras in the cab capture the action as it happens. Additional lighting subtly enhances the tunnel sections to represent the realistic lighting conditions experienced by the train operator - the trains are controlled automatically in similar manner to the Victoria Line. Rob Curling, brings us many of the relevant and fascinating facts of this early tube railway. 50th Anniversary of the Santa Claus Special Union Pacific Challenger 3985 made its first-ever venture east of the Mississippi River in November 1992 when it traveled off line onto CSX rails. This historic event was prompted by the 50th running of the Santa Claus Special, a tradition of the former Clinchfield Railroad that was being carried on by Clinchfield successor CSX. Each year on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, Santa and his helpers would ride the special train, tossing candy and gifts to the children of the coal mining towns that lined the route from Shelbiana, Kentucky to Kinsgport, Tennessee. At one time the Clinchfield Railroad owned six of the big Challenger engines and used them to haul Appalachian coal. It seemed appropriate then for UP and CSX to work jointly to bring a Challenger back onto Clinchfield rails again. Before that could happen, the 3985 would have to undergo a name and numbering change. Leaving UP rails in Memphis, Tennessee, the Challenger traveled to Huntington, West Virginia, where it was converted to “Clinchfield 676.” After leading the Santa Claus Special, “Clinchfield 676” ran an employee special out of Kingsport. The 4-6-6-4 is a sight to behold as it works up through the twisting, rugged Appalachian Mountains. The sound of the steam whistle echoing through the hollows will take you back in time, and the small coal mining towns that dot the route will remind you of another era in American railroading. All the excitement of big Clinchfield steam is here for you to savor and enjoy! Aspect:4:3 - Duration:120M - #XCLINCHDVD - RRP$44.95 - Limited Time Special Offer $14.95 ORDER HERE

This is a Driver's eye view of the LGV Est, the high speed line from Eastern France. Filmed in 2011 before the final section was built, we benefit from seeing the scenic classic main line for about half the length of this production. Our journey begins in the capital of the Alsace wine-growing region of France. Our train is a classic TGV Réseau, the original and iconic high speed train. This is the 1203 to Paris Gare de l'est. For the first half of our journey we travel over the traditional main line towards Nancy. Our TGV has just one intermediate stop at Saverne. Maximum line speed is 160 kmh or 100 mph. We travel through an exceptionally scenic part of France running alongside the Marne-Rhine canal and through a number of tunnels. After approximately 115 kms, we join the LGV Est. Now our speed doubles to 320 kmh or 200 mph as we leave the control of lineside signals and come under the control of the TVM 430 in-cab signalling system. This is overseen by the control centre at Pagny sur Moselle where we partly follow the progress of our train number 2424. Now we experience the unique sensation of travelling at this very high speed, uninterrupted other than the usual shots of the driver and those taken from the trackside. Eventually, the TVM 430 tells driver Peter to begin to slow down before joining the classic main line at Ghenay-Gagny, 16 kms from Paris. Finally, down to 30 kmh we enter the 26 platform Gare de l'est running about 30 seconds late! (Yes, seconds). This program is a digitally remastered "re-production" of one of our earlier popular programs titled "Today's Delaware & Hudson" and has been unavailable for over 6 years due to a damaged master. It was time to remake it, and make it even better! In late 1990, the Canadian Pacific acquired the D&H after several years of uncertainty. However, even the CP's deep pockets weren't an immediate answer to saving the line. Fortunately and eventually, the line has been revived. This program shows the trains on the D&H North End in 1991 at Saratoga Springs & vicinity, and then again in 1994 when we covered the entire line from just northwest of Albany to Rouses point, NY. Footage is presented chronologically, and you'll witness many "un-retired" MLW's along with D&H lightning stripes and an assortment of Canadian Pacifics EMD/GMD power through the change of seasons. Our visit concludes with a trip on Amtrak's southbound "Adirondack" where we filmed from the rear vestibule on a perfect autumn day.
